My Story

My why

For so long I struggled with food issues, constantly feeling ‘bad’ after over eating or eating too much chocolate or cake. I was always a chubby kid and loved my food and I was an emotional eater and this lead to so many bad habits emotionally and mentally. I experienced so many horrendous diets from starving myself to binging and my relationship with food was so unhealthy.

After travelling the world with my now Husband, Pete, and working as a Stewardess/Masseuse on Super Yachts for the majority of my 20’s, I found my passion for health and wellness.

In the last year of my travels in New Zealand I studied and obtained a diploma in Diet and Nutrition and really started to focus on my health and fitness.

As I became more educated about nutrition I started to realise I had a huge sugar addiction, which was massively affecting my health, so in October 2015 I made the decision to quit sugar completely.

I spent a year in New Zealand in 2015 and I completed an 8-week detox with the help of some amazing people in New Zealand and I found a new lease of life! I became aware very quickly that it is virtually impossible to find healthier sugar free treats (which aren’t packed full of chemicals or nasty sweeteners!) so this led me onto baking my own.

My time in New Zealand was a real eye-opener for me. I realised my food addiction was all linked back to the refined sugar in my diet, (along with stress and other things which I deal with through yoga and meditation and I find this is a constant practice). But the food side of it was so simple for me.

I wanted to create products that makes myself AND others FEEL good. To produce delicious snacks that don’t create that horrible guilt after being eaten. To really feel like my body and my customer’s bodies are being nourished with my snacks.

All my products are raw, vegan, refined sugar-free, gluten free* and 100% natural.

*Please note – whilst I take every measure to make sure all products are free from gluten and dairy, they are produced in my kitchen where gluten and dairy are present. If you have any concerns at all please do not hesitate to contact me.

The photo on the left was taken at my sisters graduation in 2006 and the photo on the right is me in 2017 on my wedding day. I’m about to give a speech – something I never thought I would have the self-confidence to do.

This is me.

In the picture on the left I weighed just under 11 stone and although I believe weight doesn’t always matter, how I felt generally I knew I was overweight and I was deeply unhappy. I didn’t love myself, I was in a relationship with a man who didn’t love me – but if I didn’t love myself how could I expect anyone else to?

I was so unhappy with the way I looked and I ALWAYS turned to food and chocolate for love and comfort – it helped initially but I’d always go through the same battle in my head experiencing shame and guilt.

The photo on the right is basically how I am now. I’m 2 stone lighter, about to give a speech on my wedding day and I’m in a loving relationship with my husband AND myself. I’m not saying my life is perfect, it has its ups and downs just like any other, but I can hand on heart say I am truly happy and I genuinely put this down to getting a hold of my sugar addiction, my relationship with food AND my relationship with myself.

I had tried everything ranging from weight watchers, slimming world and even a 1-day a week fasting fad! (Don’t ask..)

”After years of suffering with numerous health issues and always turning to food for comfort I decided to take control of my life and after extensive studying I obtained a qualification in Diet and Nutrition and really started to focus on my health and fitness. As I became more educated about nutrition I started to realise I had a huge sugar addiction, which was massively affecting my health, so in October 2015 I made the decision to quit sugar completely”

Whilst working in New Zealand in 2015 I completed an 8-week sugar detox and I found a new lease of life! I realised my food addiction was all linked back to the refined sugar in my diet, along with stress and emotional eating which I deal with through yoga and meditation and I find this is a constant practice. But the food side of it was so simple for me. I now combine healthy eating along with mindfulness and meditation to lead a happy and healthy life, which I believe so many women crave.

After giving up sugar and processed foods I experienced:

  • Weight loss.
  • Clearer skin.
  • Eating less food.
  • IBS symptoms faded.
  • Fewer cravings.
  • No more emotional eating.
  • A healthy relationship with food.
  • Clarity of mind.
  • My headaches disappeared.

For years I had been using food/sugar/sweets to mask my feelings and hide my emotions. Rather than dealing with the problem, I would just eat my way through a bag of crisps or family size bar of galaxy and then starve myself the next day because I felt so bad. But I couldn’t do this on my sugar detox so my real, true, raw feelings actually had to be dealt with. So I faced them, I didn’t comfort myself with cake, I listened to my feelings head on. I discovered a love for meditation and yoga and I uncovered my inner hippie who had been hiding away for so long.

”I feel so passionate about how refined sugar affects the body and how so many of us are addicted to it. It’s my mission to empower and educate women to know you can still enjoy amazing food without putting rubbish into your body’’

Emotional eating is something I’ve always battled with, even as a child. Giving up the white stuff has helped me combat this – along with eating real wholesome food; practising self-love and daily meditations I’m able to deal with my emotions head-on.
